Stop flaming the OP, if anything in this thread is dumb it's the 'omgwtfbbq diz threed is dum' posts. I have a feeling that, like me, all the adults around him hate video games and tell you that they take up your life and you 'have better things to do', etc. So adults who like playing games are confusing creatures. *shrug* It's a valid question, I don't know why people bother to reply with just flames.
Anyway, I know no adults personally that like my(or my brother's) gaming habits but I do know plenty of adults on GW who do. ^_^

Why would it be considered immature for adults to play video games? All a video game is is a way to escape the stresses and restrictions of reality for a while and enjoy the freedoms of a virtual life. We can't go around slaughtering monsters in the real world with scythes and swords (unless you want to be locked up for becoming a blade wielding maniac who thinks people are monsters ) and casting magic spells that summon a meteor shower on top of the house of the person you hate (a man can dream, can't he? ). So what's stopping anyone from doing it in a virtual world?

The first videogames were born much much much earlier than people who are 15 years old now, and WE were 13-15 then, so we just have more experience, and that's it!
If you're not my age, or a computer expert, this (below) won't mean anything to you, the rest of the world will know:
Z-81
ZX Spectrum
Commodore 64
Acorn
Atari 65 XE
Atari 1024 ST
I worked and played with them, when some of you, kids, didn't exist even in the remotest plans
And I started my adventure with cRPG with the "Collossal Cave Adventure" (text only!)
Old habits die hard, and games are better and better every year, so why stop?

well im just a kid but i don't find any reason why an adult would play guild wars (except for anet and other such vidoe game companies)
|
They have every right to play as you do. Some just want to feel younge because they are going through a mid-life crisis. Some want to have fun, which is not illegal to people over 25.

Guild Wars is far from an immature game. Same with World of Warcraft, Runescape, and countless others. It is not the game that is immature. It is the people that are playing. Kids (ages 10-12) usually get on rated T games thinking they are cool and act like complete idiots spamming "lol p3n0rz" because they think it's funny.
It's really not.
If you have a problem with adults playing, I'd advise go play something crappy like Flyff or R.O.S.E. They are both made for the younger audience.

I know a handful of people 35+ that play and well let's just say I get along with them much better than the 14 year old brats (lolol?) that play.. They are much more mature and just want to have a fun time rather than being so competitive as the younger people that play do..
Is it wrong that people that age played? Isn't it about the same thing as little 11 year olds playing on the computer wasting their youth away and not outside playing with real people? Meh.. Everyone is different. Like different things. Like to get away and do some random RP`ing. :P

Anyone can log onto guildwars, and you could think it was a 40 year, but really, it was a 10 year old or something. If they didn't tell you, you'd think they could be santa or something.
I'm 14!

Because video games aren't reserved for children.
Obvious proof? the ESRB. A lot of games can't even be PURCHASED by children.
What's so surprisind about a 30-35 year old throwing in DOOM and blowing sh*t to pieces?
